Experience: 5+ years related experience (or PhD + 3)
Scope: Process modeler working with lead process modeler and specializing in detailed models needed
for scale-up such as heat and mass transfer models and kinetic models.
Minimum Requirements
• MS/PhD Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 5 years relevant technical experience
• Ability to develop independent kinetic models.
• Process modeling with AspenPlus.
• Significant experience with FLUENT or equivalent CFD type package in modeling heat
and mass transfer effects preferred.
• Experience performing thermal and mechanical stress analysis using finite element
packages preferred.
• Independent worker who requires minimal direction.
• Able to adapt to fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
• Develop integrated models of Calera process units such two phase systems as gas-liquid
absorption systems and solid-liquids separations systems that show the relevant heat and
mass transfer effects.
• Build 3D-models of complex equipment using AutoCAD, SolidWorks or equivalent,
select appropriate software packages for meshing and solving, verifY the accuracy of
these models, and suggest new designs or new operating parameters based on existing
designs.
• Develop complex kinetic models of chemical reactions and integrate those models into
the CFD packages.
• Give presentations to management showing the results of the models, comparing the
models against available data and making reconunendations.
• Develop process models in AspenPlus including heat and material balances. Develop
PFDs based on those process models.
• Support ongoing plant operations with ad-hoc models for various process tests.
