Minimum Requirements
Experience in the area of processing carbonate minerals and a basic understanding of the role of CO2 in global climate change; must have a demonstrated ability to organize creative and independent research, and communicate the results in a peer-reviewed journal and company presentations. The development of novel methods and new concepts that permit interrogation over a wide range of length and time scales will be highly encouraged. The applicant must have good organizational and management skills and have the ability to interact effectively with colleagues displaying a broad range of expertise and interests. A strong commitment to the environment and the flexibility to operate in a work environment with frequently changing requirements is a must.
Responsibilities:
Calera Corporation is seeking mid-career Geochemist to fill a new position in the area of carbonate rock-water interactions. The primary focus areas of this position involve coupling macroscopic laboratory experiments, neutrons scattering and advanced spectroscopies and microscopies with multiscale theoretical modeling and simulation. Research is directed at developing experiments and test programs to optimize Calera’s aggregate production, as well as leading scale-up experiments, recommending equipment, creating MPS, developing QA/QC programs for products, and overseeing tests to insure the aggregate meets and exceeds industry standards. The team is equipped with a wide array of experimental facilities including a large R&D lab, high-level analytical technology, and a pilot plant in Moss Landing, CA.
