Job Title: Senior Geochemist

Education: PhD in geochemistry or related field required
Strong background in both geology and chemistry

Experience: 3-5 years related industrial experience

Scope
To work in the Process Chemistry group on novel processes focused on the utilization of natural sources of base and cations in our CO2 mineralization process. Previous work in start-up environment preferred (although unlikely).

Minimum Requirements
• PhD in geochemistry or related field
• Minimum 3 years industrial experience
• Hands on lab and field geology experience
• Diligent, self motivated, detail oriented and good trouble shooting skills
• Good knowledge of carbonate aqueous and mineralization chemistry, high ionic strength reaction characteristics, electrochemistry and mineral processing.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Experience with ArcGIS, geochemists workbench, solid-state mineral characterization techniques desired.

Responsibilities/Desired Experience:

• Immediate responsibilities would be directly focused on evaluating ultramafic rock performance in: a) direct carbonation experiments and b) HCl neutralization. (Experimental experience with ultramafic rock decomposition studies a plus).
• Assist in brine exploration and evaluation efforts targeting high alkalinity and high Ca brines.
• Develop semi-empirical models around mineral dissolution and crystallization process.
• Develop strategies for heavy metal incorporation into the carbonate matrix.
• Methods development for improved materials characterization focused on brines and mafic minerals.
• Integration between process chemistry, analytical and materials groups.
