Job Title: Manager of Project Economics

Education: Engineering degree MBA (preferred)

Experience:
• 2+ years of project development or project management for an engineering firm or
• 2+ years in consulting related to engineering or infrastructure projects or
• 2+ years in power or chemical industry in business related functions

Scope:

Minimum Requirements:
General
• Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities
• Effective communication
• Experience in flexible environments like start-ups

Technical
• Mechanical, chemical, power engineering
• Financial knowledge and experience with:
o Financial statements analysis and construction
o Economic metrics of profitability
o Financial modeling
• Proficiency in Excel and Power point

Other
• Familiarity with forecasting and Monte Carlo methodologies and software
• Hands on experience in any industrial plant
• Global experience
• Intellectual curiosity


Responsibilities
1. Project level – with project developers
a) Develop formal cost, cash flows and revenue models for different scales of projects
b) Keep an updated database of costs and prices of raw materials for projects
c) Develop financial models and economic analysis for a specific site considering:
• inputs for process chemistry
• local markets for products
• CO2 forecasts and other revenue sources
• Taxes
• Different funding structures
d) Support analysis of contract terms for each project

2. Process level – with Engineering/Construction/Operations
a) Understand the cost of Calera’s plants with different configurations and scale:
• Work with procurement and process engineering to quantify equipment options
• Trade-off analysis for key metrics (capital cost, operating cost, utility requirements, physical footprint) vs. capacity and type of equipment.
• Suggest technical specs to maximize profits
b) Determine the main sensitivities for plant profitability and suggest strategies to leverage opportunities and mitigate risks
c) Keep track of competition and provide regular updates on alternative technologies, their competitive advantages and costs

3. Corporate level
a) Provide economic analyses for presentations to investors and other corporate reports
b) Support development of grants applications

4. EVP/COO
a) Report on projects, sensitivities and technology landscape
b) Prepare reports for board meetings
c) Prepare keynote presentations
5. General
a) All other duties assigned
