Job Title: Senior Process Design Engineer – Electrochemical Cell Design
Education: Mechanical/Chemical Engineer
Experience: 10+ years directly related experience
Scope
Previous experience in the chloralkali industry with respect to electrode cell design.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelors Degree in mechanical or chemical engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years experience directly in electrochemical cell design and development.
• Strong CAD skills.
• CFD skills preferable.
• Preferred experience related to oxygen depolarized cathode (ODC) chloralkali development or equivalent.
• Track record of successful new concept development, scale-up and commercialization.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the process design of pilot and commercial scale cell housings to be used in advanced electrochemical processes. All design specifications need to be directly tied in with the electrochemical R&D efforts.
• Oversee the process design phase from initial conceptualization all the way through until it can be handed off to detailed design engineering and procurement.
• Work with existing component suppliers to design, evaluate, select and procure cell components which will interface with the cell housing designs.
• Work directly with CFD modeler to optimize cell design with respect to fluid flow, thermal and concentration gradients.
• Responsible for the materials selection of cell components.
• Interface between electrochemistry and engineering group to ensure proper cell design, manufacturing and construction takes place.
